Thermodynamic. Thermodynamic properties of Pu metal, gaseous species, and the aqueous ions at 298 K are given in Table 8. Thermodynamic properties of elemental Pu (44), of alloys (68), and of the gaseous ions Pu", PuO", PuO" 27 PuO 2 (67) have been reviewed, as have those of aqueous ions (64), oxides (69), haUdes (70), hydrides (71), and most other compounds (65). [Pg.196]

The aim of the present study is precisely to investigate the thermodynamical properties of an interface when the bulk transition is of first order. We will consider the case of a binary alloy on the fee lattice which orders according to the LI2 (CuaAu type) structure. [Pg.122]

A series of experiments have been undertaken to evaluate the relevant thermodynamic properties of a number of binary lithium alloy systems. The early work was directed towards determination of their behavior at about 400 °C because of interest in their potential use as components in molten salt batteries operating in that general temperature range. Data for a number of binary lithium alloy systems at about 400 °C are presented in Table 1. These were mostly obtained by the use of an experimental arrangement employing the LiCl-KCl eutectic molten salt as a lithiumconducting electrolyte. [Pg.363]

Plutonium-noble metal compounds have both technological and theoretical importance. Modeling of nuclear fuel interactions with refractory containers and extension of alloy bonding theories to include actinides require accurate thermodynamic properties of these materials. Plutonium was shown to react with noble metals such as platinum, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium, and osmium to form highly stable intermetallics. [Pg.103]

A convenient starting point is to consult the phase diagrams in Hansen s Constitution of Binary Alloys (10) and supplementary volumes (11,12), but information may also be needed on miscibility at the temperatures normally employed for film preparation and catalytic reaction. Therefore, some consideration must be given to the thermodynamic properties of the... [Pg.117]

It is also of interest to note that starting from miscibility gap data, attempts have been made to derive thermodynamic properties, i.e., free energies of mixing, and Sundquist (23) summarizes information and discusses a number of binary alloy systems. [Pg.120]

A systematic description of bond characteristics in intermetallic phases involves several different approaches. A bond characterization in intermetallics, as related to thermodynamic properties and considerations concerning the stability of intermetallic phases, has been reported by Ellner and Predel (1995). On this subject we observe the peculiar properties of alloys of extraordinary stability formed by... [Pg.236]

In a review, Van der Lugt (1996) observed that a number of liquid alloys (K-Pb, Rb-Pb, Cs-Pb, K-Sn, Rb-Sn, Cs-Sn, K-Te) behave as if all the anions were in the form of perfect simple Zintl anions like tetrahedra and dumbbells this being suggested by the behaviour of many physical properties (resistivity, thermodynamic properties, etc.) as a composition function. In this context a simple Zintl ion was defined as a polyanion that assumes the same configuration as a neutral isoelec-tronic element. A similar definition was reported by Van der Lugt and Verkerk... [Pg.269]
