Quaternary fluorinated alkyl ammonium compounds The fluorine-containing cationic surfactants of quat type with the general formula C F2 , 1-S02-NH-CH2-CH2-CH2-N (CH3)3 X (n = 8) (Fig. 2.12.1(d)) were examined by FIA—MS using APCI and ESI in the positive and negative modes. The APCI(- -/—) ionisation resulted in a dealkylation at the nitrogen with ions at m/z 585 or 583, respectively. The alkyl chain of this compound contained the moiety C8Fi7. The ions generated under APCI conditions were characterised as dealkylation products—m/z 585 [M — CH2]+ or m/z 583 [M — H— CH3] —as reported in the literature [35,37]. [Pg.394]

Alkyl ammonium compounds. High-molecular-weight amines are very useful actinide extractants in both analytical and process applications. Salts of primary, secondary, and tertiary amines, as well as quaternary ammonium bases RNH2, R2NH, R3N, and R N, are commonly used. These compounds, which are often thought of as anion exchangers, may also be considered as neutral-species coordinators since equivalent equilibrium expressions can be written based on either mechanism. That is,... [Pg.79]

Finally, shear viscosity is strongly affected by the clay in the blends, especially at high PEN contents. A lubricating effect rather than a filler effect reveals the possibility that the clay is not well dispersed in the polymer blend, and migration of particles in the flow to the wall region can explain the observed reduction in shear viscosity. When MMT clay is mixed with crystallizable polymers such as polyesters, some processing problems arise because the crystallization process is modifled by nucleation effects induced by the nanoparticles. Moreover, these particles also influence the kinetics of transesteriflcation between PET and PEN, besides other factors such as the reaction time and extruder processing temperature. In Reference 72, a quaternary alkyl ammonium compound (Cl8) and MAH were used to modify the surface properties of the clay... [Pg.588]
