To obtain high contrast, AFLC alignment without defects must be realized. Moreover, to realize the stable grey scale expression of the high duty ratio by simple matrix driving, large hysteresis and sharp threshold characteristics are indispen-sible. These characteristics are determined not only by the AFLC material properties, but also by the quality of the alignment states. [Pg.212]
