F. 1 Conparison of the characteristic grey scale transmission of a) the IP scanner BAS2000 and b) the film scanner NOT Scan n(DBA Systems) for a step wedge exposure. [Pg.468]

IP s have different parameters than x-ray films and so must be used in different ways. The system scanner-IP in the case at hand has a different characteristic curve. To make comparisons, one must have a conversion of the obtained grey scale values into the intensity values supplied by the film-light box system. [Pg.473]

Analogously to STM, the image obtained in a force microscopy experiment is conventionally displayed on the computer screen as grey scales or false colour, with the lightest shades corresponding to peaks (or highest forces) and darkest shades corresponding to valleys (or lowest forces). [Pg.1695]

Dry Cleaning. In colorfastness to dry cleaning, ISO 105-D01 a specimen of the textile is placed in a cotton fabric bag together with stainless steel disks and agitated in perchloroethylene (30 min, 20°C) and the effect of the shade and the color of the solvent assessed using the grey scale. [Pg.376]

Studies of this reaction have recently been extended to acquisition of a 3(4)D CSI dataset, shown in Figure 5.5.12 the grey scale indicates the extent of conversion. As expected from the 1(2)D CSI and volume selective imaging studies discussed earlier, conversion is seen to be heterogeneous within transverse sections through the bed at any position along the direction of superficial flow. [Pg.603]

Fig. 36. The spatial variation of agglomerate sizes in simulations of erosion in the journal bearing flow. Initially there are 10000 agglomerates consisting of 400-500 aggregates. The grey scale represents the number of aggregates in the agglomerates, (a) Poorly mixed flow after four periods, (b) Well-mixed flow after one period (Hansen, el al. 1998). Fig. 36. Fig. 8.29. Europium to iron ratios plotted against metallicity [Fe/H] according to the model of supernova-induced star formation, after Tsujimoto, Shigeyama and Yoshii (1999). Grey scales represent predicted stellar surface densities in the ([Fe/H],[Eu/Fe]) plane convolved with a Gaussian with o = 0.2dex for Eu/Fe and 0.15 dex for Fe/H, and symbols show observational data from various authors. The inset shows the unconvolved predictions. Fig. 8.29. In Figure 42 the different grey-scales of the cells represent the different perceived risk classes, i.e. the precursors present in the four dark grey cells are classified first, precursors present in the four grey cells are classified second and precursors present in... [Pg.126]

Fig. 13 3-D cutaway image showing the extent of conversion of the esterification occurring within the fixed bed considered in Figs. 11 and 12. The conversion was calculated from the chemical shift of the OH peak in a 4-D chemical shift image. The chemical shift image was acquired with an isotropic spatial resolution of 625 pm. The RARE image of the structure of the bed was acquired at an isotropic spatial resolution of 78 pm. Both datasets have been reinterpolated on to a common array giving an effective isotropic spatial resolution of 156 pm. The direction of flow is in the negative z direction. The grey scale indicates the fractional conversion within the bed. Grey scale bars are in kPa. Images B and C are extracted from 3D data sets of reconstructed elasticity parameters, obtained with the subzone based method used in Fig. 8. Note the good contrast in image C, even though the mechanical parameters are not obviously correlated to the structural properties depicted in image A (reprinted with permission from Ref. 48 2000 IOP Publishing Ltd.). The diagram illustrates the extreme levels of exposure, i.e. no exposure and total exposure, of the sensitive layer. Between these extremes there can be a range of exposure levels which will result in a grey scale. From the negative formed in the above procedure it is possible to repeat the operations, thereby obtaining a positive copy of the original. [Pg.362]
