Alcohols hexanol

Most higher alcohols (hexanol and higher) and primary alcohols of three carbons or more are synthesized by one of four general processes, or derived from a structurally related natural product. See also Organic Chemistry. [Pg.47]

Neocuproine reacts with copper(I) within the pH range 3-10, to form an orange complex extractable with -amyl and isoamyl alcohols, -hexanol, and MIBK. Neocuproine is added to the sample as an ethanol solution, and the complex formed is extracted with CHCI3 [29]. The molar absorptivity of the complex in isoamyl alcohol at Xmax = 545 nm is 7.9-10 (a = 0.12). [Pg.181]

These molecules originate from grapes. One group consists of Ce alcohols, hexanols and hexenols from plant tissues that give the herbaceous smells so characteristic of wines made from unripe grapes (Volume 1, Sections 11.6.2 and 13.3.4). [Pg.55]

In these glycosylated derivatives, the aglycones are not exclnsively alcohols or terpene polyols. Linear or cyclic alcohols (hexanol, phenylethanol and benzyl alcohol) and some Ci3-norisoprenoids, as well as, probably, volatile phenols such as vanillin, may also be present (Section 7.3.1). [Pg.211]

Volatile aldehydes and alcohols are key compounds in the fresh and green sensorial notes of vegetables and fruits [59]. The characteristic aroma compounds responsible for green note include trans- and ci5 -2-hexenol, trans- and cts-S-hexenol (leaf alcohol), hexanol, hexanal, and cis-2-hex-enal [100]. These compounds are biosynthetically produced using lipoxygenase pathway enzymes [5,101],... [Pg.306]

Would you drink a liquid that contains butanol, isoamyl alcohol, hexanol, tannin, benzyl alcohol, caffeine, geraniol, quercetin, epicatechin-3-O-gallate, epigallocate-chin-3-O-gallate, inorganic salts and water This question itself may be appalling to the reader, but it only lists the main constituents of tea. [Pg.2]

The second step involves reacting the Grignard reagent with one of a wide variety of compounds to obtain the desired final product. For example, if formaldehyde and then water is reacted with the Grignard reagent in Eq. (12.20), the final product will be the normal primary alcohol hexanol ... [Pg.345]
