Paddle agitator

Fig. 1 shows an agitated preneutralizer for mixing phosphoric acid and ammonia in a fertilizer plant. The slurry is very thick, with a specific gravity of 1.5 to 1.6. The agitator paddle is mounted on a 14-ft-long stainless-steel shaft suspended on the output shaft of a roof-mounted gear reducer. [Pg.73]

In activity tests, sections of the Zn composite were used as agitation paddles in a batch reactor and compared to granular zinc, which was loaded into a similar vessel with an inert agitator (Fig. 23). The reactors were charged with 1 L of water and sparged with nitrogen to remove dissolved oxygen. TCE was then added to a concentration of 1(X)0 ppm. A chloride selective electrode was used to monitor chloride ion formation as a function of reaction time. First order kinetics were assumed, and rate constants were calculated per mass of Zn. [Pg.45]

In California, Spirulina sp. grown in paddle-wheel-agitated open ponds with CO2 is harvested through stainless steel screens, with recycling of the nutrient-rich water to the ponds. The wet Spirulina is spray-dried at 60°C for a few seconds to yield a food-grade product (47). [Pg.464]

The stabihty of the emulsions further permits them to be compounded in simple Hquid-blending vessels by means of agitators, eg, marine-type propellers, paddles, or turbines. The adhesives can be adapted to any type of machine appHcation, ie, from spray guns to rollers to extmder-type devices. Different appHcators are fairly specific in their viscosity requirements, as are the various substrates receiving the adhesive. [Pg.469]

Batch Stirred Tanks Tanks agitated by coaxial impellers (turbines, paddles, or propellers) are commonly used for batch dissolution of solids in liquids and may be used for leaching fine solids. Insofar as the controlhng rate in the mass transfer is the rate of transfer of mate-... [Pg.1674]
