Aggregation-disaggregation

In principle, then, one could solve for adsorption, desorption, aggregation, disaggregation, sinking, and regeneration rates (Figure 5(b)) if the concentration of each of the three thorium isotopes were measured in the dissolved phase, as well as in small and large particulate phases, throughout the water column. 

In the discussion of the adsorption kinetics of micellar solutions, different micelle kinetics mechanisms are taken into account, such as formation/dissolution or stepwise aggregation/disaggregation (Dushkin Ivanov 1991). It is clear that the presence of micelles in the solution influences the adsorption rate remarkably. Under certain conditions, the aggregation number, micelle concentration, and the rate constant of micelle kinetics become the rate controlling parameters of the whole adsorption process. Models, which consider solubilisation effects in surfactant systems, do not yet exist.

Pahlich and Joy (1971) have presented evidence for aggregation/ disaggregation phenomena with the NAD-linked GDH from pea roots. Certain pretreatments of the enzyme can change its relative ability to perform the reductive amination and oxidative deamination reactions. Treatments which favor NADH-dependent activity are Tris buffer, Ca " and low concentrations of dioxane. These treatments simultaneously decrease the NAD-dependent activity, while phosphate buffer increases NAD-dependent activity and decreases NADH activity.
