Adrenoceptor agonists administration route

Methoxamine is a relatively selective alphai-adrenoceptor agonist that has been used to a limited extent in the management of urinary stress incontinence. It has also been used locally as a nasal decongestant and in the emergency treatment of hjtpotension. No matter what the route of administration, methoxamine can cause adrenergic effects, including cold hmbs, pilomotor stimulation, and a desire to micturate. Tachyphylaxis has been seen in experimental animals. [Pg.2290]
