Drug administration route Accidental injection of adrenaline into fingers seems not to be associated with adverse reactions in most cases, although occasional reports appear [12" ].

Adrenaline can be administered in a nebulized form, but should be aware that inhalation route causes a systemic consequence. A randomized study was performed to explore pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of two nebulized inhalative adrenaline doses (4 and 8mg in aqueous solution) using a mobile pocket inhaler relative to i.m. administration (0.3 mg) and placebo. This randomized, open-label, change-over pilot study involved eight young healthy men and women. Results indicated that adrenaline concentrations obtained following the 8 mg inhalative dose were not inferior to those after 0.3 mg i.m, showing that relevant fraction of most inhalation adrenaline doses is absorbed and mediates systemic effects [271. 

Nor-epinephrine the same dose and the same route of administration as with adrenaline, were used. A marked hypertension with bradycardia and unchanged kininogen levels are noted. 

Whereas the biological effect of some hormones, c.ff., adrenalin, insulin, pitocin, pitressin, and intermedin, becomes apparent very shortly after their administration, sex hormones act differently. There is a marked time interval between the administration of the sex hormones and their first perceptible effect. The duration of this period cannot be shortened either by changing the route of administration or the solvent or by increased dosages.
