Adhesive Joining environments

The technique selected depends on whether the ceramic is to be joined to a similar or dissimilar material, and on the expected operational conditions at the joint. If the joint temperature is not expected to exceed 150°C or to only have very short-term excursions to 200°C, and the environment is not too chemically aggressive, organic adhesives offer an attractive joining solution. [Pg.155]

High noise levels and chemical emissions that are potentially harmful to health and the environment are undesirable. Adhesive bonding is virtually a noise-ffee joining method. [Pg.431]

Pallets come in many sizes. Because of shipments in trailers and boxcars, a standard size of 42 x 48 inches is most common. Traditional pallets are of hardwood joined by nails and adhesives. Other materials such as plastics and various composites also are used. Treated pallets and those constructed of materials which retard burning are safer in e storage environment. [Pg.212]

Epoxy based adhesives also work well with Celanex reinforced resins. Some suggested epoxy adhesives are Scotch-Weld 2214 and 2216, manufactured by the 3M Co., St. Paul, MN. Scotch-Weld 2214 is a one-part epoxy which can be cured in 40 min at 120°C (250°F). Scotch-Weld 2216 is a two-part system which cures in 24 h at room temperature. Both of these adhesives gpve tensile shear strengths in excess of 500 psi and are resistant to such environments as fuels, salt spray, and air up to 93° C (200° F) continuous and (250°-300° F) short-term. Many other epoxy-based adhesives are also suitable for use with Celanex Another method of joining Celanex is with adhesive bonding tape. One such tape, Bostik... [Pg.299]
