5 Actual Values of Performance Parameters Obtained through Laboratory Testing [Pg.256]

Measured electrical performance parameters of thermal batteries TBl and TB2 indicated that the actual values obtained through laboratory testing [8] seem to exceed the specified requirements summarized for TBl and TB2 battery systems as shown in Tables 6.6 and 6.7, respectively. The highest energy density for TBl battery system during the tests was 70.2 Wh/kg at the test temperature of +20°C, where the battery mass was approximately 24.3 kg, as shown in Table 6.9. The laboratory tests conducted on the TB2 battery system at the suppliers indicated that the lowest energy density of 39.3 Wh/kg at a test temperature of -40°C was achieved when the battery mass was 9.97 kg, as illustrated by Table 6.10.
