Activity limits for excepted packages

For articles manufactured of natural uranium, depleted uranium or natural thorium, an excepted package may contain any quantity of such material provided that the outer surface of the uranium or thorium is enclosed in an inactive sheath made of metal or some other substantial material. [Pg.46]

For transport by post, the total activity in each excepted package shall not exceed one tenth of the relevant limit specified in Table 3. [Pg.46]

The radioactive contents in a single package of LSA material or in a single package of SCO shall be so restricted that the radiation level specified in para. 521 shall not be exceeded, and the activity in a single package shall also be so restricted that the activity limits for a conveyance specified in para. 525 shall not be exceeded. [Pg.46]

If the total activity of an SCO is so low that the activity limits for excepted packages according to para. 408 are met, it can be transported as an excepted package, provided that all the applicable requirements and controls for transport of excepted packages (paras 515-519) are complied with. [Pg.26]
