This technique was extended by Schmidt-Rohr et al.251 and was given the acronym DECODER (direction exchange with correlation for orientation-distribution evaluation and reconstruction). The pulse sequence of the 2D version of this method, which is shown in Fig. 16(a), is basically a typical 2D exchange experiment except that the sample is reoriented during the mixing time. Consequently, the correlation of, for example, the chemical shift interaction at two different sample orientations is obtained. [Pg.92]

It is common practice to refer to these compounds using numerical acronyms corresponding to the metal stoichiometries. The decoding scheme and Tc values are collected in the following table (13)(21)-(23) the lead-substituted phases are included but not generally referred to with acronyms. [Pg.259]

The inherent difficulty can perhaps best be appreciated with the example of acronyms. Suppose a worker sees PCB on a label. This acronym is really a very complex symbol. The person must perceive the letters PCB, presume them to be a word, perceive the whole word PCB, and then in attempting to decode this word comprehend it is not a word but a different kind of symbol, and decode this new symbol. If the workers do not have the code book for PCB they are not much better off than with an arbitrary graphic symbol. [Pg.23]

In the original paper describing this technique [9], the acronym LED appears to have been derived from the term longitudinal encode-decode, a reference to the pulse-gradient combinations employed, whereas this term is now taken to mean longitudinal eddy-current delay [10]. [Pg.307]

Adhesives, as with other chemicals, fall within the jurisdiction of a number of laws. Table 13.3 gives a list of acronyms and the full names of these legal acts. Table 13.4 decodes a number of other acronyms that may be encountered in MSDSs. [Pg.315]
