Lehmstedt-Tanasescu reaction also known as Lehmstedt-Tanasescu-acridone synthesis is a general reaction for the synthesis of acridone derivatives 3 from substituted orr/to-nitrobenzaldehydes 1 and arene compounds 2 in the presence of a mixture of sulfuric acid and sodium nitrite.
