In 1935, the Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company decided to begin acidizing oil wells commercially. As for the operator. Pure Oil, that fine company was eventually merged into the Union Oil Company of California (now Unocal) in 1960, with its place and legacy in acidizing history unfortunately all but forgotten.
