Absorption and Emission Spectroscopy of Carbon Nanotubes

Compared to the vibrational spectroscopy of carbon nanotubes, their absorption and luminescence spectroscopy kind of lives in the shadows. This is, however, not due to a lack of information these methods could provide to the understanding of the nanotubes electronic structure. There are rather experimental complications that arise from the inhomogeneity of the available materials. [Pg.209]

At first, however, these structured spectra could not be confirmed by experiment due to the poor solubility of nanotubes No satisfactory samples for absorption [Pg.209]

However, the experimental data discussed so far still constitute superimposed spectra of many different carbon nano tubes. Measurements on individual tubes would mean an improvement here. This requires some experimental effort, but by [Pg.210]

Combining it with the observation of the radial RBM, fluorescence microscopy can be employed to determine the structural parameters n and m of the tubes under examination. Table 3.2 collects experimental and theoretical values of carbon nanotubes characterized this way. [Pg.211]

Another feature of the fluorescence of SWNT turns them into interesting candidates for quantum optical applications Contrary to all semiconductor quantum [Pg.211]
