Absidia corymbifera

The septa may or may not have the same structure as the hyphal wall. In Aspergillus spp. they seem to be very much the same, while in Absidia corymbifera, for example, they are not. In Neurospora crassa, they show an electron-transparent central lamina, sandwiched between layers of chitin, overlain in turn by protein. Absidia and other Mucors are probably very similar, as judged by the reactivity of their walls and septa with lectins. [Pg.284]

Synth, by the transferase action of yeast, bacterial and other a-galactosidases on melibiose. Formed by the action of a-galactosidase of Absidia corymbifera on 6-0 -a-D-Galactopyranosyl-D-glucose, G-145. Found free in cocoa beans, hazelnuts and in various plant mannans. Selectively utilised by bifidobacteria in the intestine but hardly utilised by other microorganisms. Increases faecal bifidobacteria and decreases Clostridia. [a]o +167 (H2O). [Pg.498]

The best results were obtained with Absidia corymbifera cultured in YMS, with which complete transformation of terfenadine to fexofenadine was achieved. The preparative experiments carried out in 1 L of YMS and 200 mg of terfenadine led to 193 mg (93% yield) of fexofenadine. Some variation of the protocol for microbial oxidation to fexofenadine by A. corymbifera was recently reported by the same author, but no significant improvement in productivity was achieved [44]. [Pg.137]
