Kinetics of IgM and IgG appearance in the serum following a first and a second exposure to the same antigen. On first exposure a delay of several days occurs before any antibody appears in the serum. IgM appears before IgG. After many days the serum level falls. If the system is exposed to a second equivalent dose of antigen, the appearance of IgM and IgG is much faster, and the maximum level of IgG is much higher. (From G.
