Zinc porphyrins photochemistry

The photophysics and photochemistry of gaseous PuFe have been ex-amined. Studies involving zinc porphyrins have been reported and include photo-oxidations in aqueous solution, photoreductions of Zn-TPP with hydrazines, and the role of Zn-TPPSa/ethyl viologen in photoredox processes. The mechanism of the photo-oxidation of water to oxygen with silver chloride has been discussed, and the synthesis of bis(chlorosilyl)-mercury compounds described. Colloidal CdSe has been shown to sensitize the photoreduction of O2 and of methyl viologen by cysteine. ... [Pg.187]

For example, in 1963 the photochemistry of magnesium phthalocyanine with coordinated uranium cations was studied in pyridine and ethanol and indicated the occurrence of PET to the uranium complex . A rapid photoinduced electron transfer (2-20 ps) followed by an ultrafast charge recombination was shown for various zinc and magnesium porphyrins linked to a platinum terpyridine acetylide complex . The results indicated the electronic interactions between the porphyrin subunit and the platinum complex, and underscored the potential of the linking para-phenylene bisacetylene bridge to mediate a rapid electron transfer over a long donor-acceptor distance. [Pg.198]

Although a number of studies of the photophysics and photochemistry of non-iV-substituted porphyrins and metalloporphyrins have been reported, there are very few studies of N-alkylporphyrins Lavsillee et al. have reported fluorescence spectra of JV-methylporphyrins and their zinc(II) complexes.3,4 There is no report on the lifetime and its correlation with the structure. Ruorescence data for iV-alkylporphyrins and their zinc(II) complexes in degassed acetonitrile are shown in Table 2. [Pg.356]
