Zero-goal mindset

Many large companies, especially within major hazardous and construction industries, have adopted the so-called zero-goal mindset or philosophy (Levitt and Samelson, 1993). This philosophy is based on the belief that all occupational injuries and illnesses and process and environmental incidents are preventable and management s goal for them all is zero. It is an easily communicated goal with many implications that are not always fully understood. [Pg.236]

When dealing with occupational injuries, the focus is on performance indicators such as the LTI-rate and the goal is to reduce the measured values to zero.
