ZBLAN doped with

It has already been mentioned that ZBLAN fiber lasers can generate more than one wavelength on different transitions. In this case the lasing wavelengths are defined by specific energy transitions of the rare-earth ions involved, are usually widely spaced, and are likely to have unequal output powers. Similarly, silica fiber doped with more than one rare-earth species, and pumped with a common source, can lase at more than one wavelength simultaneously. [Pg.169]

Room-temperature lasing has been demonstrated in the ultraviolet at 381 nm and in the violet at 412 nm with Nd3+-doped ZBLAN fibers of about 40 cm in length [164,165]. The transitions involved are4D3/2 4L i/2 and 2P3/2 —> 4In/2, asdepicted... [Pg.262]

Green coherent light has been obtained as well. Up-conversion of 801 nm light from a single laser diode leads to 3 mW of 544 nm light at the output of an Er3+-doped ZBLAN fiber [175]. Higher output powers are attained with large pump... [Pg.263]

Tick et al. (1995) modified this system by adding Znp2 and YF and doping solely with the rare-earth ion Pr (Table 4-12) at the low level of 0.1 mol%. The luminescent quantum efficiency of Pr emission at the 1300 nm telecommunication band was measured at 7%, an improvement over similar Pr emission from the well-known fluoride glass, ZBLAN , measured at 4%. These glass-ceramics... [Pg.261]

Silva et al. had presented an alternate photothermal experiment in which pump and probe beams are collinear and the sample temperamre is determined from probe beam phase shifts rather than probe beam deflection (Silva et al., 2013a,b). Their experimental arrangement used a continuous-wave Gaussian (TEMqo with radius w ) pump beam and a weak collinear (i.e., zero lateral displacement) He-Ne laser probe beam (TEMqo with radius Wp), and they tested Yb -doped fluorozirconate (ZBLAN) and low-silica calcium aluminosilicate (LSCAS) glass. They measured the intensity of the central portion of the probe beam in the far field (pinhole/photodiode assembly) as a function of time, which is expected to follow... [Pg.219]
