PaulL. Ford Pamphkts, pp. 117,22 Essays, p. 295) attributes the Brutus letters to Robert Yates. Cecelia M. Kenyon confidently identifies Yates as Brutus in The Antifederalists, ed. Kenyon (Indianapolis, 1966), pp. Ixxxvii and 323. Although acknowledging that Brutus s identity is not known, Bernard Bailyn narrows the field to Robert Yates or Abraham Yates, Jr. DC, vol. I, p. 1149.
