Xylene toxic hazard properties

Properties Dark-brown solid. Setting point 62.5C. Soluble in acetone, methanol, and xylene. Hazard Toxic by ingestion. [Pg.409]

CSPE-based compositions for coatings are traditionally produced with application of aromatic solvents (xylene, toluene, etc.) characterized by high toxicity and explosion and fire hazards. These properties interfere with application of conventional coatings. Moreover, the polymer concentration in such compositions cannot exceed 20%. [Pg.179]

Prods. CO, CO2 heated to decomp., emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes... [Pg.3823]

In this classification benzene is included in the first group, which is that of the highly hazardous compounds. Consequently in most countries the use of benzene is restricted to those processes where it is essential as a reactant or originates from natural products, such as petroleum derivatives and gasoline. Other aromatic compounds, such as toluene and xylene, also present a relatively high toxicity, but not as much as that of benzene and they do not exhibit strong carcinogenic properties. [Pg.71]
