The changes in the triplet-triplet absorption spectra of thioxanthone in solvents of different polarity facilitate a study of its behavior as a guest molecule in [1-cyclodextrins. In particular, the effects of structural changes to the host molecule on the complexation efficiency and dynamics have been found to be very similar to those of xanthone <2001PCB2122>. 

Generation and trapping of radical cations of a,co-diphenylpolyenes within the channels of pentasil zeolites provides an environment which allows these transient species to be spectroscopically characterized . Similarly, complexation of xanthone in cyclodextrin has made it possible for the triplet state of this molecule to be fully characterized . Association and dissociation processes are related to the dipoles developed in the complex and in solution. A unimodal Lorentzian lifetime distribution for 2-anilinonaphthalene-6-sulphonate B-cyclodextran inclusion complexes have been recovered by multifrequency phase-modulation fluorometry in the presence of the quenchers Cu, acrylamide, and I . Both the fluorescence and phosphorescence spectra of benzo[f]quinoline adsorbed on p-cyclodextrin/NaCl have been determined as a function of temperature . 

Cyclodextrins form complexes with ground state xanthone. The strength of the complex depends on the cavity size and was largest for P-CD, with an equilibrium constant of 1100 M [185,187]. A spectral change was observed...
