The fagade of the body, in effect a threshold between inner and outer worlds, was its skin which in Christian theology became invested with subjectivity. Cutting into the skin was an act that simultaneously split the subject, resulting in a plural being that was suspect, even considered to be demonic as evidenced by the hybrid creatures... 

World War II submarines used torpedo tubes with outer and inner doors. The torpedo was loaded into the tube from the torpedo room using the inner door. The inner door was then closed, the outer door opened, and the torpedo launched. 

It s not this illness that s determining how I live. I ve never been happier. I ve never been more whole. I ve never been as peaceful or as calm as I am at this moment. And I just assume it will become more so. Even if my outer world becomes more compressed and limited, my inner world, at the same time, is expanding. This is a time of real growth and change and insight for me. 

This heretofore closely-guarded secret of esoteric practice—the exteriorization—is also one of the meanings of the Rosicrucian (Christian-Qabalah) pledge to perform all practical work in a place concealed and apart from the gaze of the outer and uninitiated world. This means that the alchemical procedure is undertaken within the inner bodies, as well, of course, as in those objective Temples of Ingathering in the Worlds Above. 

However, there is a time-delay phenomenon between causes being set in motion in the inner world and their effects appearing, fully manifest, in the outer world. This needs to be taken into account so that you do not become disheartened or fall prey to melancholia, as the old alchemical books term it. Lama Anagarika Govinda explains this delay between causation and result in his book, Foundations of Tibetan Mysticism ... 

Comment Blake is now fully delirious and will continue to be out of touch with reality for many hours, although brief moments of lucidity do occur from time to time. This is a characteristic feature of delirium - variability and occasional awareness of the environment, sometimes with surprisingly appropriate comments or behavior followed by a prompt lapse into total disorientation. As opposed to the normal awake state, in which thoughts and inner stimuli are sometimes distracting, in delirium, the opposite is the case the inner world (although confused) is sometimes invaded by the outer world. 

Both synthetic and natural polymers have superstructures that influence or dictate the properties of the material. Many of these primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary structures are influenced in a similar manner. Thus, the primary structure is a driving force for the secondary structure. Allowed and preferred primary and secondary bondings influence structure. For most natural and synthetic polymers, hydrophobic and hydrophilic domains tend to cluster. Thus, most helical structures will have either a hydrophobic or hydrophilic inner core with the opposite outer core resulting from a balance between secondary and primary bonding factors and steric and bond angle constraints. Nature has used these differences in domain character to create the world around us. 

He causes one to realize the futility of trying to possess that which does not belong to the material world. For the moment, one wants to possess and grasp at it [meaning the illusions of the materialist world]— at that moment it eludes one and, like smoke, it vanishes into thin air Our relationship to the Outer and the Inner World is thus proved. To be shaken out of the ruts of ordinary perception, to be shown for a few timeless hours the outer and the inner world, not as they appear to an animal obsessed with survival or to a human being obsessed with words and notions, but as they are apprehended, directly and unconditionally, by Mind at Large—this is an experience of inestimable value to everyone and especially to the intellectual. ... 

Some people prefer to focus their energy and attention on their outer world, which in Jungian terms makes them extrovert, and some on their inner world making them introvert (see Figure 2.3). 

We all can be classified in terms of the factors depicted in Figures 2.2 and 2.3. We will have a preference to sense or to intuit, to perceive or to judge, to think or to feel, to relate to our inner or outer world. 

How we see our outer and inner worlds inevitably determines much of what we do our perceptions and beliefs are the... 

Even worse than these demonic transformations of the outer world, were the alterations that I perceived in myself, in my inner being. The most important deposits of sulphur in the world arc those of Louisiana and Texas, U.S.A., where //. Franck s method of extraction is followed.2 This obviates the formation of sulphur dioxide and at the same time yields a product of such a degree of purity (in some wells as high as 99-9 per cent.) as to be suitable in most cases for direct use. A boring is made in the earth down to the sulphur stratum so that a continuous pipe can pass thence to the surface the pipe consists of throe concentric tubes (see lig. 1). Superheated water, c.g. at 150" is forced down the annular spaces A, A, between the outer tubes, in order to melt the sulphur in the neighbourhood of the cud of the boring. A blast of heated air down the inmost tube, II, then causes the molten sulphur to be carried up between the two inner tubes to the surface, where it is collected.3...
