Word distribution table

The type of data file displayed in Table IV resembles a concordance in the sense that it shows occurrences of different words in different subclasses or texts. In most linguistic studies, the columns represent different texts, and the table entries denote counts of word tokens in those texts. We will use the description "text" here to denote one of these columns even though no text has been defined rather, "text" means a partitioning of the data. The entire table will be called a word distribution table, or use distribution file, when referring to these particular data. [Pg.46]

Frequency Distribution. The word distribution table provides not only the distribution of word tokens among the various texts but also the total frequency of each word type. The total number of types or tokens having a given frequency can be determined by simply counting types in the distribution table or summing the total number of tokens with that frequency. The functions which present the number of types or tokens of a given frequency are called, respectively, the type and token distribution fvnations. [Pg.46]

The physical properties for Reaction-Injection-Molded urethane foam cannot readily be determined because they are, as all sandwich structures, highly dependent on the particular shape of the article and the ratio of skin to foam or, in other words, the density distribution through the part. Typical densities for these new structural foams are 30 — 45 lbs./ft.3 with average moduli of elasticity of 120,000 — 250,000 p.s.i. The most important point is the effect of thermal history upon the equilibrium level of cobalt and zinc ions in solution. Within experimental error, the results obtained with the 45 °C—two day systems are identical to the 45°C systems which had received a prior one-day treatment at 5°C. The duration of the experiments has very little effect upon the equilibrium distribution, as evidenced by the fact that the results obtained by longterm equilibrations at both temperatures and for both ions were nearly identical to those shown in Table III. Most important however is the finding that the equilibrium levels of cobalt and zinc at 5°C are significantly higher than these which are obtained after a 45°C treatment. This indicates that the 5°C distribution over the various possible sites, as induced by a 45°C pretreatment, differs from the normal low-temperature distribution in that a significant portion of the adsorbed bivalent ions which participate in the 45°C equilibrium no longer do so at 5°C. In other words, when returned to 5°C, part of the solid-phase metal ions appear irreversibly sequestered in sites where they are out of reach at low temperature. [Pg.238]

Crystal size distributions may be characterized usefully (though only partially) by a single crystal size and the spread of the distribution about that size. For example, the dominant crystal size represents the size about which the mass in the distribution is clustered.
