With Reaction at a Hydroxy Group

The hydroxy group in l-methyl-2-hydroxy-l-propyl phenyl tellurium was methylated with methyl iodide . 

The acetylation of 2-hydroxy-l-decyl phenyl tellurium was carried out with acetic anhydride in pyridine . 

2-Acetoxy-l-decyl Phenyl Tellurium 0.5 g (1.5 mmol) of 2-hydroxy-1-dccyl phenyl tellurium are dissolved in 1.5 m/of dry pyridine, 1,5 m/of acetic anhydride are added, and the mixture is stirred under nitrogen in the dark for 18 h. The solvent is then evaporated at 20° under oil pump vacuum yield 0.52 g (93%) pale yellow oil. 

Bis[2-hydroxyethyl] tellurium and methyl(vinyl)dimethoxysilane in refluxing benzene in the presence of a small amount of methanolic sodium methoxide produced 5-methyl-5-vinyl- I-tellura-4,6-dioxa-5-silacyclooctane.
