The petrol-resistant rubber used for the wiper ring and gland cannot ensure reliable operation of the system. Due to intensive wear by abrasive particles the wiper ring and glands fracture and the productivity of the pump drops abruptly. Oil wiper packing. For oil-firee compression no trace of oil may be allowed to creep from the crankcase along the rod into the ( tinder. Triple wiper rings—equipped with garter springs— are well known and also used in labyrinth-type compressors for oxygen service. Each of the three rings is provided with an oil wiper lip.
