Fig. 8. Schematic illustration of the tunnelling in a CNT-based device (a) under no bias voltage, there are no orbitals available for conduction, (b) with small bias voltage, only one molecular orbital of a CNT contributes to the carrier transport and (c) when the next molecular orbital enters the bias window, current increases stepwise. Gate voltage can shift all the orbitals upward or downward. AE indicates the energy separation of molecular orbitals. Fig. 8. Resting Ca2+ influx is attributed partly to a certain level of the open probability of excitable channels, including ROCs, SOCs and VGCCs. Some SOCs may stay open due to the basal level of InsP3, while the resting membrane potential of vascular smooth muscle allows for a certain degree of activation of the Ca2+ window current (Nelson et al 1990). Additionally a non-specific influx of Ca2+, referred to as the Ca2+ leak, substantially contributes to basal influx however, its precise mechanism remains elusive (van Breemen et al 1972). [Pg.39]

Fry The voltage dependence of these STOCs that you have shown is interesting, because there is now more evidence for T type Ca2+ currents in smooth muscle cells. Kenton Sanders, you said that it was in the window current for the L-type Ca2+ channels, but it is probably about 10 mV too negative for that. Is there any evidence that T type channel activity will be involved ... [Pg.67]

A small overlap in the voltage dependence of activation and inactivation leads to a persistent sodium current, also referred to as a window current. This current is very small compared to the peak current and may go unnoticed in typical whole cell current recordings. However, this current may play an important role in amplifying subthreshold depolarizations and thus in controlling excitability [7]. [Pg.124]

Note that during phases 0 through 3 a slow Na+ current ( window current ) occurs, which can help prolong the duration of the action potential. [Pg.86]

APD—due to block of the slow Na+ window currents, but this increases diastole and extends the time for recovery. [Pg.92]

Transparent materials are needed and used as covers for windows, lighting and signage. The transparent dust covers for windows currently in use on cotmnercial aircrafts are typically made of a transparent polycarbonate... [Pg.3118]
