Winders capacity

The production shaft is serviced by a groimd-moimted friction winder with a nominal production capacity of 3.5Mt/y and a hoisting depth of 1,100m. A surface conveyor system transports ore from the tipping bin at the shaft to a surface ROM stockpile adjacent to a new secondary crushing cuid screening plant. [Pg.518]

The 4 Shaft complex comprises of the Main Shaft and the Sub-Vertical Shaft. The main shaft is 8.7 metre in diameter and was sunk in 1988 to a depth of 1981 meters. This shaft is for men, material and rock hoisting. Presently Ikamva Shaft employs 3500 people. Two winders service this shaft. On the south eastern side there is a 4550 kW GEC man winder with two 3 deck cages, total capacity 150 persons/cage, operating at a speed of 15 m/s. On the north western side is a 4715 kW GEC rock winder with 12 ton skip capacity operating at a speed of 15 m/s. It also allows for the installation of a 100 man cage, in the overlay rock compartment to assist with the bulk shift. [Pg.545]

Several scenarios were considered to sling the new drum shaft which, at 37 tons, was the heaviest component. The final decision was to sling directly from the rope and thus request exemption from the DMR with regards to the rope safety and capacity factors for this once of slinging exercise. The calculated info of the Man Winder duty cycle with an 18 ton counterbalance in the other conveyance at Im/s indicated that the slinging of the shaft with this winder allows 1 hour 7 minutes before temperature rise would become a hmitation. [Pg.547]

For textile production the capacity of winders has been increased by winding eight or even 12 packages on one winder. For industrial yarns the standard number of packages is two to four. [Pg.931]
