Wind whip

Belt conveyors handling un-treated limestone should be partially, or totally enclosed to control wind-whip, unless the material has been pre-screened (e.g. at 3 mm) to remove fines. Transfer points between conveyors should be enclosed, and, where dry limestone is being handled, they should be fitted with dust extraction. [Pg.385]

All crushed limestone containing a substantial proportion of material below about 3 mm in size should, where practicable, be kept in covered storage (e.g., consisting of not less than three walls and a roof [33.3]) for routine use. Where this is not possible the material should be conditioned with water to control wind-whip. [Pg.385]

Belt conveyors are widely used to transport run-of kiln quicklime to the processing plant, llie conveyors should be enclosed to prevent wind-whip (as well as to keep off rain). Transfer points should be fitted with hoods and dust extraction. Bag filters are generally preferred, with the collected dust being discharged on to the down-stream conveyor. Conveyor discharge points should be arranged to minimise free-fall and should either be enclosed, or fitted with dust extraction. [Pg.387]

The three little pigs were smart. As the winds whipped against their shutters, they ran from the house of straw and the house of sticks. The pigs then ran to the house of bricks and built a fire in the fireplace. Today, the fires are burning in organizations. They are calling for a redesign of the supply chains. [Pg.256]

He escorted me to the great door and bowed me out. I refrained from tipping him for this service. I paused for a moment in the loggia while I wrapped my cloak tight about me. The riva was almost deserted now the wind had risen and was whipping a fine spume off the waves of the basin, but it would be at my back as I walked to the traghetto. I had noticed that there was only one man left sitting on the bench, but paid him no heed until I started to move, for by then he had risen to accost me. [Pg.48]

You ll wind up with a wonderful combination of cake and pudding. Cut the cake topped with pudding into squares for serving. We like to garnish it with low-fat whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Make this once and it ll become one of your favorites. [Pg.283]

Louise saw a Romany caravan being driven at considerable speed along one of the roads on the edge of town below them. The driver was standing on the seat, striking at the cob horse s rump with a whip. It was a woman, her white dress flapping excitably in the wind. [Pg.22]

The fire, whipped by the wind, began to scythe its way through the density of... [Pg.598]

It should however be noted that if the skip is not fully loaded the point at which the two curves will cross (and possibly cause a rope whip problem) will occur earlier in the wind. The curve (dotted blue line) is shown for hoisting an empty skip and crosses that of the exciting frequency much earlier in the wind. A partially loaded skip will have a curve that is somewhere between the empty and fully loaded curves. Much more time is available to build up significant amplitude of rope movement. [Pg.46]

The hoist position relative to the sheave wheels is defined by the rope whip calculations, which were performed based on the methodology described in Vibrations in winding ropes by Dimitriou [1973]. From a rope whip perspective, it is generally preferable to keep the rope... [Pg.612]
