Wigner /?-function table

By means of the gaussian expansions listed in Table 2 we have prepared contour maps of the radial Wigner function Fo(r, k) for D = 1,2,10,25,100. These maps are presented in the Figures 1 to 5. The upper map in each figure shows the exact function derived firom the M = 9 expansion, the lower map shows the single-gaussian approxi-... [Pg.174]

The authors are hopeful that the book will serve as a practical manual for the researcher, both theorist as well as experimentalist, in atomic, molecular or chemical physics. With this in mind, we have paid special attention to the comprehensive information necessary to follow all calculations through to their conclusions. We also hope that the material in the appendices will take the place of a short handbook with formulae on vector calculus, spherical functions, Wigner D-functions, Clebsch-Gordan coefficient tables, etc. We fully realize that one may find in various pa-... [Pg.320]

An important use of vector coupling coefficients lies in the calculation of matrix elements of the operators in the vibronic Hamiltonian. Knowing the symmetry properties of the basis functions and of the operators, the ratio of the matrix elements can be deduced by inspection of the vector coupling coefficients. Without resorting to complicated formulae, a restricted use of the Wigner Eckart theorem may be illustrated as follows. First let us reduce Table 1 to those columns involving only the decomposition products of E symmetry (Table 2). [Pg.372]

The initial positions and momenta of the ethylene or TME molecule in each simulation were sampled from a Wigner transform of the ground state vibrational wave-function in the harmonic approximation. Each set of initial conditions was run as a single, independent simulation, i.e., using the independent first-generation approximation [63] The number of independent simulations for each system is shown in Table 2. [Pg.329]
