Wide taxonomic applicability

The taxonomic application of the ability of enteric organisms to grow with 4-hydroxy-phenylacetate (Cooper and Skinner 1980) and 3-hydroxyphenylpropionic acid (Burlingame and Chapman 1983) has been established. In addition, it has been demonstrated that the enzyme that carries out the hydroxylation has a wide substrate range extending to 4-meth-ylphenol, and even to 4-chlorophenol (Prieto and Garcis 1994). [Pg.69]

Cypermethrin Winter Wheat 0.595 (drift rate) and 25 g a.i./ha (2 app at 14 day intervals) Effects reported on a wide range of species studies at both 0.595 and 25 g a.i./ha Recovery reported for all taxonomic groups 38-40 days after 2nd application of both 0.595 and 25 g a.i./ha... [Pg.159]

The wetting and spreading action necessarily demands that the adhesive is applied in the liquid phase, whereas the final bond depends on the adhesive being a solid with appropriate mechanical characteristics. The two most widely used and nsefnl taxonomic schemes for adhesives address either the way in which this phase change takes place or the chemical nature of the adhesive itself, although other schemes such as a classification by suitability for a particular type of adherend or end-use industry are also current and sometimes more applicable. [Pg.27]

Nevertheless, the potential of morphometric analysis of conodonts that is suggested by these studies has yet to be fully realized. Here we present a brief review of the hitherto unacknowledged difficulties inherent in morphometric analyses of conodonts, provide a new standardized morphometric protocol with wide cross-taxon applicability and demonstrate its utility by presenting an example of its application to analysis of morphological variation in a conodont species within a taxonomic context. [Pg.240]
