APPEARANCE. Beetle 3.5-6 mm long, dark brown to black on the wing covers there is a white mark in the shape of a V, open towards the front. Egg 0.5-0.7 mm long, oval, white and translucent.

Leaves skeletonized. Causes White-marked tussock moths Japanese beetles. Whitemarked tussock moths are V/i" long yellow caterpillar has 4 clumps of white hair on its back, along with 2 tufts of black hair on the head and 1 at the rear. Birds and natural parasites usually keep this pest under control. Tf damage occurs, reduce future populations by scraping the frothy white egg masses off trunks and branches. Band trunks with a sticky coating, such as Tanglefoot, to catch caterpillars as they crawl up the tree. Spray leaves with BTK to control serious infestations. 

Description Adults A" flies with yellow or white markings on their bodies, and transparent wings patterned with dark, crosswise bands. Larvae white, A" maggots feeding in fruit. Found throughout North America. 

B. Munitions. The combination of high hardness, strength, and density makes DU alloys well suited for armor piercing projectiles. Most DU munitions are identifiable by their black color with white markings on the projectile end. However, corrosion may alter this color. All peacetime firings are prohibited except on ranges which are approved and licensed by the NRC and/or have host nation agreement.

If the characters be formed with a solution of nitrate of bismuth, they will, when dry, be invisible but, on wetting the paper with a little water, the writing will appear in dense white marks. 

Not all plastics require dopant to achieve a contrasting mark. There are several plastics that yield excellent results without additives. As example, most black polycarbonates produce a snow-white mark without altering the chemistry. 

YAG lasers are becoming increasingly popular for laser marking appearance applications. They are particularly suited for developing a light mark on a dark plastic part. To this end, lasermarkable acetal copolymer resins were specially formulated to enhance the contrast of a white mark on a black part using the YAG laser.
