Welding general precautions

Ferrous-aUoy-clad tube sheets are generally prepared by a weld overlay process in which the alloy material is deposited by welding upon the face of the tube sheet. Precautions are required to produce a weld deposit free of defects, since these may permit the process fluid to attack the base metal below the alloy. Copper-aUoy-clad tube sheets are prepared by brazing the alloy to the carbon steel backing material. [Pg.1074]

Open Flames or Hot Surfaces No degreaser should be installed near open flames or near high-temperature surfaces (above 750°F [399°C]). Welding and heat treatment operations and space heaters should not be located in proximity to solvent degreasing equipment. When these operations are in the same general area as solvent degreasing equipment, precautions should be taken, such as enclosures and local ventilation to ensure that no traces of solvent vapors enter these areas. [Pg.25]

Titaniuin and most titanium alloys can be welded by arc, spot, seam, flash, pressure, friction and electron beam methods. Procedures and equipment are generally similar to those used for welding austenitic stainless steel or aluminum. However, because titaniixm and titanium alloys are extremely reactive above 540 °C (1000 °F), precautions mvist be taken to shield the joint frnm air. No flux is used when welding titaniimi. [Pg.761]
