Weight preparation

Glass-Transition Temperature. The T of PVP is sensitive to residual moisture (75) and unreacted monomer. It is even sensitive to how the polymer was prepared, suggesting that MWD, branching, and cross-linking may play a part (76). Polymers presumably with the same molecular weight prepared by bulk polymerization exhibit lower T s compared to samples prepared by aqueous solution polymerization, lending credence to an example, in this case, of branching caused by chain-transfer to monomer. [Pg.528]

Figure 7 (a, b, d, and e) shows transmission electron micrographs from Pd-Ag films of comparable weight, prepared and annealed at 400°C, and used once to catalyze the oxidation of ethylene at 240°C (40). The structure of this series of alloy films varied consistently with composition. Silver-rich films (e.g., Fig. 7a, 13% Pd) showed extensive coalescence of the crystallites, while at the other end of the composition range (e.g., Fig. 7e,... To measure Molecular weight prepare a solution of polystyrene log/litre and from this solution, 10 ml of solutions having concentrations 8, 6, 4, 2 g/litre respectively were prepared by diluting with toluene. The Osmotic pressure of various solutions were measured. [Pg.106]

In order to determine the apparatus constant iioffAll that appears in Eq. (13), measurements are made on a material of known susceptibihty. Eor this purpose, a common standard is an aqueous solution of nickel chloride, about 30 percent NiCl2 by weight. Prepare 100 mL of such a solution with an accurately known weight fraction of NiCl2 in air-free distilled water. When this and other solutions are weighed on the Gouy balance, record the ambient temperature. [Pg.368]

The polymer with low molecular weight, prepared from the reaction at a small [monomer]/[Pd] ratio (20 1), shows the C H NMR signals of the carbons of the initiating polymer end. The polymer from 1-phenyl- -allyl-palladium complex contains the 3-phenyl-1-propen-3-yl end group (Eq. 42) (<5141.7 [CH2=], 114.3 [=CH-], 47.8 [CHPh]), whereas the end group of the polymer from -allylpalladium complex contains the signals due to the allyl group (<5138.4 [CH2=], 114.4 [=CH-], 34.1 [CH2]). [Pg.176]
