Weber unit

The weber (unit of magnetic flux) is the magnetic flux that, linking a circuit of one turn, produces in it an electromotive force of 1 volt as it is reduced to zero at a uniform rate in 1 second. [Pg.578]

Equations (6-236) to (6-239) are based on experiments on cube-oc tahedrons, octahedrons, cubes, and tetrahedrons for which the sphericity f ranges from 0.906 to 0.670, respectively. See also Chft, Grace, and Weber. A graph of drag coefficient vs. Reynolds number with y as a parameter may be found in Brown, et al. (Unit Operations, Whey, New York, 1950) and in Govier and Aziz. [Pg.678]

Analogies exist between electric and magnetic fields. The magnetic flux (4>) is analogous to electric current and has SI units of webers (see Table 2-36). The magnetic... [Pg.286]

This method of fixing the derived unit by making the arbitrary constant equal to unity was largely extended by Gauss and Weber. [Pg.22]

In their analysis, however, they neglected the surface tension and the diffusivity. As has already been pointed out, the volumetric mass-transfer coefficient is a function of the interfacial area, which will be strongly affected by the surface tension. The mass-transfer coefficient per unit area will be a function of the diffusivity. The omission of these two important factors, surface tension and diffusivity, even though they were held constant in Pavlu-shenko s work, can result in changes in the values of the exponents in Eq. (48). For example, the omission of the surface tension would eliminate the Weber number, and the omission of the diffusivity eliminates the Schmidt number. Since these numbers include variables that already appear in Eq. (48), the groups in this equation that also contain these same variables could end up with different values for the exponents. [Pg.325]

The discussion continues regarding the role of silanone and cyclodisiloxanes as reactive intermediates in the formation of Si-O-Si bond.25 In studies of the reaction of dimethyldichlorosilane, phenylmethyldichlorosilane, or diphenyldichlorosilane with dimethyl sulfoxide in the presence of 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-l-oxa-2,5-disilacyclopentane, Weber and co-workers obtained products of the insertion of diorganosiloxy unit into the cyclic siloxane, accompanied... [Pg.654]

The SI unit (symbolized by H) for both self-inductance and mutual inductance. One henry represents the inductance produced when an induced electromotive force of one volt is generated as the inducing current is altered at a rate of one ampere per second. (Hence, one henry is equivalent to one volt-second per ampere or one weber per ampere). See Magnetic Susceptibility Permeability... [Pg.337]

A unit, symbolized by Mx, for magnetic flux. It is the flux through a square centimeter normal to a field of one gauss. One maxwell is equal to 10 weber. [Pg.445]

The SI unit for magnetic flux density or magnetic induction (symbolized by T) equal to a weber per square meter. One tesla is equivalent to lO" gauss. [Pg.672]

To consider magnetic flux density components of IAIV, Q must have the units of weber and R, the scalar curvature, must have units of inverse square meters. In the flat spacetime limit, R 0, so it is clear that the non-Abelian part of the field tensor, Eq. (6), vanishes in special relativity. The complete field tensor F vanishes [1] in flat spacetime because the curvature tensor vanishes. These considerations refute the Maxwell-Heaviside theory, which is developed in flat spacetime, and show that 0(3) electrodynamics is a theory of conformally curved spacetime. Most generally, the Sachs theory is a closed field theory that, in principle, unifies all four fields gravitational, electromagnetic, weak, and strong. [Pg.470]
