Wavefront, reconstructed

Although it sounds reasonable to use the maximum likelihood to define our esfimafe of the displacement, there are two questions that remain. Firstly, what is the variance of the error associated with this estimate This defines N which was used in Eq. 22 fo defermine fhe error in fhe wavefront reconstruction. Secondly, is it possible to do better than the centroid In other words is it optimal ... [Pg.387]

The wideband holographic imaging technique is a wavefront image reconstruction, or focusing, technique that eliminates the need for physical focusing elements such as lenses or curved reflectors. This technique is essentially a way to mathematically focus the imaging data that are completely unfocused in the actual hardware implementation. [Pg.255]

With radio wave interferometric imaging of astronomical sources, it is typically assumed that the incoming radiation consists of planar waves. In this limit, any curvature of the incoming wavefronts is negligible. This far-field assumption is used for synthetic imaging and simplifies the imaging reconstruction process. However, most standoff THz applications do not fall in the far-field limit, and the simplified inverse Fourier transform of the electric field correlation - the far-field image reconstruction [99] - must be modified [100] to account for the curvature of the wavefronts in the near-field. [Pg.344]

The space-time pattern of Cerenkov wavefront can be reconstructed during off-line analysis fitting relation 9. The reconstructed muon direction will be affected by indetermination on PMTs position (due to underwater position monitoring) and on hit time (PMT transit time spread, detector timing calibration,...). [Pg.228]

It is not correct to assume that amplitude holograms can reconstruct wavefronts with only amplitude variations and phase holograms can reconstruct wavefronts with only phase variations. In Section II it was explained that wave-front direction (i.e., phase) is recorded by interference fringe spacing, and wavefront amplitude is recorded by interference fringe contrast. In reality, both amplitude and phase types of holograms are capable of recording wave-front amplitude and phase information. [Pg.57]
