Water-free and high solid finishing formulations

5 Water-free and high solid finishing formulations [Pg.14]

The advantage of 100% finishing formulations is that all material is used to finish the textile there is no water present and thus no water emissions occur. [Pg.14]

When using hotmelt polymers/adhesives (Guo et al., 2010) for coating or for the lamination of fabrics, there is no water present in the formulation. Two main groups of hotmelts can be defined thermoplastic and reactive hotmelts. Different types of chan-istry are available. Thermoplastic hotmelts are available as polyolefines, TPU, EVA, [Pg.14]

For some time, radiation-curable formulations have been on the market The potential for using them in UV-curing textile finishing applications has been investigated (Castelein et al., 2011, Goelhals et al., 2014). Radiation-cured coatings or finishes are chemically cured, which results in the inability of reuse. Besides the water-based radiation-curable formulations, there is a lot of interest in the 100% systems because they contain no water. [Pg.15]

There is a tendency toward bio, natural, and environmentally friendly products because of the increasing consciousness of consumers, the impact of legislation (e.g., REACH), and the work of environmental organizations (e.g., Greenpeace). Due to the depletion of fossil fuels and the impact of COj-emmission on the global climate, materials consisting of CO -neutral renewable resources are being developed. [Pg.15]
