Waste minimisation factors

Initial investment in abatement technology is certainly one of the deciding factors for some companies. Often these firms cannot, or do not identify with the real savings associated with improved environmental performance. Waste minimisation, company image and brand association are all difficult to evaluate. [Pg.82]

The need to eliminate and minimise waste streams and produce environmentally friendly products is fundamental to the production process. To obtain a yes score this approach to process design must be clearly recognised in the CER. Factors included in the assessment will include product safety, the use of renewable raw materials, efficient processes, and manufacturing techniques and energy sources designed to minimise environmental impact. [Pg.116]

Minimisation of environmetal impact must also be considered - the composition of gaseous emissions and the content of toxic or prohibited substances in aqueous waste streams. These factors must therefore be taken into account when considering the production synthesis of a drug. [Pg.546]
