Waste material utilization Portland cement

Fly ash (known as pulverized fly ash [PFA] in the UK) is an inexpensive waste material exhausted with gases by furnaces at coal power stations and is trapped by special electric devices, which are installed to reduce air pollution. It is accumulated in industrial zones and its utilization is beneficial for ecological reasons. Obtained as a finely divided product, fly ash does not require grinding the particles are spherical and are of comparable dimensions to the cement grains. It is a kind of artificial pozzolan, which is used with Portland cement as an addition or partial replacement.
