Then, knowing x, the stability of intermediates and product inhibition both depend on the substituents. So much for details of enzymatic reaction kinetics as depending on details of metaUoprotein structure similar second-order effects are observed in alkyl fluorophos-phates hydrolysis by various Cu(II) complexes containing different chelating N-donors (Wagner-Jauregg et al. 1955) here the rates and turnover numbers increase with Ej (L) of the N-chelators. In the above... [Pg.48]

Several reports exist on the effect of metal cations on satin hydrolysis (Wagner-Jauregg et al., 1955 Gustafson and Martell, 1962 Epstein and Mosher, 1968). Some of the metal ions that appear to be effective include Cu(ll), Au(ll), Ag(l), Ni(ll), and Zn(ll). The effect of hypochlorite on sarin decomposition has been studied (Epstein et al., 1956), including the effect of surfactant micelles on the process (Dubey et al., 2002). It was shown that the use of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide substantially increased the speed with which satin was destroyed by hypochlorite. The effect of surfactant on the oxidation of sarin (and other OPs) with o-iodosobenzoic acid has been examined (Hammond et al., 1989). As part of an extensive study of the reactivity of nerve agents, Larsson (1958a) conducted a study of hydrogen peroxide s reaction with sarin. [Pg.39]

In assessing the potential anti-inflammatory activities of drugs against this type of reaction it must be remembered that a number of non-specific effects reduce the oedema . Thus Lorenz , and Biich and Wagner-Jauregg showed that hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide, kaolin and talc have a nonspecific anti-inflammatory effect when administered intra-peritoneally. These substances suppress oedema produced by egg-white, dextran, 5-hydroxytryptamine and formalin, probably as the result of an obscure reflex mechanism caused by irritation of the tissues at the site of... [Pg.67]
