Venous thromboembolism clozapine

Clozapine has been associated with cardiomyopathy (SED-14, 142 SEDA-21, 52 27), changes in blood pressure (SEDA-21, 52 SEDA-21, 52 SEDA-22, 57 28,29), electrocardiographic changes (SEDA-22, 57 30-32), and venous thromboembolism (SEDA-20, 47). 

Typical neuroleptic drugs have been associated with an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (50). Data from the Swedish Reactions Advisory Committee suggested that clozapine is also associated with venous thromboembolic complications (51). Between 1 April 1989 and 1 March 2000, 12 cases of venous thromboembolism were collected in 5 the outcome was fatal.

An increase in the plasma levels of clozapine, thought to be due to concurrent treatment with paroxetine, has been suggested as the causative factor in the development of a fatal venous thromboembolism in a 47-year-old woman. ... 

Cardiovascular Clozapine has been associated with venous thromboembolism. The mortality rate associated with pulmonary embolism has been estimated to be about 28 times higher than in the general population of similar age and sex it is not clear whether pulmonary embolism can be attributed to clozapine or some characteristic of its users [SEDA-28, 65]. A new case of pulmonary embolism has been reported [76 ]. 

Cardiovascular A case of clozapine-induced recurrent puZmonafy thromboembolism in a 34-year-old male is reported, occurring after 3 and again after 7 years of treafment [104 ]. A further case in a 39-year-old male after 8 months treatment is described [105 ]. A fatal case of a 22-year-old male wifh multisystem venous thrombosis on clozapine for 2 years is reporfed [106 ].
