Vanadous thiocyanates

Double Salts of Vanadous Thiocyanate.—When vanadous sulphate, V2(S04)3, in solution, is treated with barium thiocyanate, a green solution8 is obtained which is believed to contain vanadous thiocyanate, V(SCN)g, but attempts to isolate this compound have not met with success. Its double salts with the alkali thiocyanates have, however, been obtained in well-defined crystals when an alkali thiocyanate is substituted for the barium salt. The following are known —... [Pg.106]

Among the other notations is that acetaldehyde is to be avoided, it being a respiration inhibitor. It is related to ethyl alcohol or ethanol and also to acetic acid, but not necessarily to citric acid as involved in the carboxylic acid or citric acid cycle. Alkaloids are expectedly respiration inhibitors, and anesthetics can have respiration inhibition as a side effect. Aromatic adds such as phenol are bad news, as are arsenate, cyanide, isothiocyanate, and thiocyanate. The heavy metals cadmium, cobalt, copper, ruthenium, vanadate, and zinc are regarded as health risks, if not for respiration, for other reasons. [Pg.108]

Permanganate, Mn04 Perrhenate, Re04 Thiocyanate, SCN-Vanadate,V03 Tungstate, W04 ... [Pg.970]

The enzyme can also be inhibited by some other agents, but the mechanism of their action has not been elucidated. These agents are Zn [54,62], fluoride [54,62], vanadate [83] and dipicrylamine [66]. Other agents such as thiocyanate and ouabain, which are inhibitors of the anion-sensitive ATPase and (Na +K )-ATPase, respectively, have no effect on the (K + H )-ATPase [54], Two out of five antibody preparations against purified (K + H )-ATPase inhibit the ATPase activity for 80% and the K +-phosphatase activity for 35%, while the three other preparations have no effect on the enzyme activity [70], suggesting a heterogeneity of these preparations. [Pg.227]
