Valencia University, Spain

Rosa Llusar was born on September 20th, 1960 in Almenara (Spain). She studied chemistry at the University of Valencia (Spain) where she graduated in 1983 with the highest honors. Her doctorate work was devoted to the chemistry of cubane-type molybdenum and tungsten sulfides and she received Ph.D. degrees from Valencia University in 1987 and from Texas A M University (USA) in 1988, under the guidance of Prof. F. Albert Cotton. After working in the Research and Development Department of a Caprolactam Production Plant in Castello (Spain) for three years, she spent one year (1992) with Prof John D. Corbett at the... [Pg.369]

Since 1995, the Chemical and Nuclear Engineering Department of the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain has been working on the application of membrane technology to the treatment of low and medium level radioactive liquid wastes. In this chapter, we describe two practical cases of radioactive liquid waste treatment using membrane processes the treatment of Cs-contaminated water generated after a radioactive incident in a stainless steel production factory, and the treatment of 1 liquid wastes from nuclear medicine services at hospitals. [Pg.920]

All approaches to the design of enantiomerically pure rhodium(II) catalysts had depended on the attachment of enantiomerically pure ligands to the rhodium core. In collaboration with Professor Pascual Lahuerta of the University of Valencia, Spain, we undertook a complementary strategy, the preparation of rhodium(I I)-dimers (P)-56 and its enantiomer (M)-56, having backbone chirality [23]. Using the approach outlined above, we calculated that the transition state 52 should be favored over the transition state 53 by 4.2 kcal moU. ... [Pg.372]

Antonio Domenech-Carb6 (Valencia, 1953) holds a PhD in Chemistry (University of Valencia, 1989) and is currently a Professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Valencia (Spain). His research is focused on supramolecular electrochemistry, electrochemistry of porous nanostmctured materials, and electroanalytical methods applied to the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, as well as educational problems in science teaching. He has published more than 150 articles in scientific journals and monographs. He was a recipient of the Demetrio Ribes award (Valencian Regional Government) in 2006. [Pg.159]

A real concern when attempting the Grubbs reaction with a complex substrate is the stability of other alkenes. J. Alberto Marco of the University of Valencia, Spain has shown (J. Org. Chem. 68 5672, 2003) that 16 is converted to 17 without isomerization of the Z alkene. Less congested alkenes might not be so resistant. [Pg.132]
