V! phase

Polymer-Fluid Equilibria and the Glass Transition Most polymer systems fall in the Class HI or Class V phase diagrams, and the same system can often change from one class into the other as the polymer s molecular weight changes. Most polymers are insoluble in CO9 below 100°C, yet CO9 can be quite sohible in the polymer. For example, the sorption of CO9 into silicone rubber is highly dependent upon temperature and pressure, since these properties have a large influence on the density and activity of CO9. [Pg.2002]

Sometimes the third variable will be shown as contours on the two-dimensional phase diagrams. Thus, a series of isobars may be shown on a (E v) phase diagram. [Pg.405]

In gas chromatography the value of the partition coefficient d ends only on the type of stationary phase and the column temperature. It is independent of column type and instrumental parameters. The proportionality factor in equation (l.ll) is called the phase ratio and is equal to the ratio of the volume of the gas (Vg) and liquid (V ) phases in the column. For gas-solid (adsorption) chromatography the phase ratio is given by the volume of the gas phase divided by the surface area of the stationary phase. [Pg.528]

We should also remember that a capacitor is only a capacitor for frequencies below its internal self-resonant frequency. That is the point where the impedance of its capacitive portion equals its inductive impedance. Since the two impedances always produce opposite V-/phase relationships (180° apart), at the resonant frequency, they effectively cancel out. [Pg.98]

Figure 6.18. In-As phase diagram (at constrained pressure). Notice, (similarly to other III/V phase diagrams) the formation of the congruently melting 1 1 compound which gives two eutectics. The eutectic with In is practically coincident with In. As a consequence, for all the compositions from 0 up to 50 at.% As the primary crystallization of InAs may he obtained. Figure 6.18. Vanadium phosphorus oxides (VPO) are commercially used as catalysts for the s5mthesis of maleic anhydride from the partial oxidation of n-butane. The phase constitution and the morphology of the catalyst are found to be dependent on the preparation routes and the applied solvent [78]. Recently, a method to prepare VPO catalysts in aqueous solution at elevated temperature was reported [79]. In addition to the linear relationship between specific activity and surface area, a small group of catalysts exhibit enhanced activity, which could be due to the combination of a higher proportion of V phases in the bulk of vanadyl pyrophosphate (V0)2P207 catalyst [79, 80]. With high relevance to the catalytic properties, the microstructure characterisation of VPO therefore is of great importance. [Pg.482]
