V2O3 Vanadium oxide

Vanadium oxide tribromide, VOBr3. Dark red deliquescent liquid formed by heating V2O3 plus Brj. [Pg.416]

So far, only two reports have been found in the literature on the syntheses of V2O3 and VO2 nanoparticles [6,9]. The purpose of this article is to study the probability of preparation of V2O3, VO2 and V2O5 nanopowders by pyrolysis of the precursor, (NH4)5 [(VO) 6 (C03)4(0H)9] IOH2O, at lower temperatures under H2, N2 or air atmosphere respectively. Our investigation is aimed to prepare the ceramics of vanadium oxides with nanometer-sized grains using these powders and to observe the... [Pg.479]

Catalysts composed of the following oxides have been found to be inert to the synthesis alumina, silica, molybdenum oxide (Mo2Ob), vanadium oxide (V2O3), blue tungsten oxide (W2O0), thoria, titania (TiOa), magnesia, lime, barium oxide, and strontium oxide.180 At a pressure of 150 atmospheres and a space velocity of 5000 conversions of... [Pg.132]

Vanadium Oxides. Several intermediate phases appear between V2O3 and V2O5 Li insertions into V2O5 and VsOis were investigated in the 1970s, and an amorphous or low-crystallinity VO with a polyethylene oxide (PEO) electrolyte is used in a Li/PEOA O c secondary battery for stationary storage of electrical energy [17]. [Pg.78]

It is well known [2] that vanadium can occur in V(III), V(IV), V(V) valences, and it is particularly important, especially for fimctional properties, to be able to relate the oxidation state with the observed fimctional properties. To this aim, we also analysed, for referencing purposes, the corresponding pure vanadium oxides, V2O3, V2O4 and V2O5, respectively. [Pg.141]

The role of antimony in the active phase seems to be twofold. Its presence avoids the formation of V2O5 crystallites, observed by XRD in fresh V/Al catalysts, transformed into V2O3 crystallites after the reaction. Instead of these single vanadium oxides, the XRD patterns of V-Sb/Al catalysts reveal an intermediate phase of mixed V-Sb oxide, V1.1Sbo.9O4. On the other hand, no and a much lower content of V " " species (16.1% vs 33.6%) were found in used V-Sb/Al catalysts. This indicates that antimony plays a key role in stabilizing vanadium in the higher oxidation state, which is the active species. ... [Pg.910]

Vanadium Carbide. Vanadium pentoxide [1314-62-17, V2O5, or vanadium trioxide [1314-34-7] VO3, are the most satisfactory oxides for the preparation of VC. Vanadium pentoxide is best prepared by igniting chemically pure ammonium vanadate [7803-55-6] NH VO, in the presence of moist oxygen to avoid reaction with nitrogen V2O3 is obtained by reduction of V2O3 with hydrogen (see Vanadium compounds). [Pg.452]

Oxides Vanadium monoxide VO, gray solid vanadium trioxide V2O3, black solid vanadium dioxide VO2, dark blue solid vanadium pentoxide V2O5, orange to red solid. The last is the most important oxide formed by the ignition in an of vanadium sulfide, 01 othei oxide, 01 vanadium used as a catalyzer, e.g., the reaction SO2 gas plus oxygen of air to form sulfur tnoxide. and the oxidation of naphthalene by air to form phthalie anhydride. [Pg.1667]
