UV cured system

The UV cure system contains an epoxy or a vinyl ether functionalized PDMS polymer and a photo catalyst [36]. This latter, a diaryliodonium salt is photolyti-cally decomposed to form an active acid that polymerizes the epoxy or vinyl ether groups and crosslinks the network. [Pg.688]

Radiometers are quantitative physical detectors of radiation, which convert the radiant energy to an electrical signal. They can be used for monitoring and controlling UV curing systems in order to produce the desired cure. [Pg.221]

Profiling radiometers measure and display the peak power and total density ion of a UV curing system and also profile the temperature and irradiance as a function of time. The information is transferred into a computer. They are capable of comparing characteristics of multiple lamps, comparing UV systems over time, or comparing different systems to each other. They track and store archival data. An example of profiling radiometers is in Figure 9.6. [Pg.223]

Acrylated epoxy systems undergo significant changes in thermomechanical properties on standing at room teinperature. Other studies have shown that free radicals are very long-lived in UV-cured systems kept under inert atmospheres, amd that polymerization can continue for extended periods due to the low mobility of the residual unsaturated species at higher conversions. In this study, however, the films were exposed to air immediately after irradiation, which should effectively quench the residue free radicals. [Pg.295]

Photoinitiators. Derivatives of benzoin and benzil are added in amounts of 1-3% as photoinitiators in UV-curing systems. These have differing effectiveness in the UP systems [2.99], Special initiators are available for pigmented systems. The UV light splits them into radicals which in turn initiate polymerisation. The UV radiation is generated using superactinic fluorescent lamps and/or high-pressure mercury vapour lamps [2.109]. [Pg.59]

Depending on the application process, the viscosity of the coatings varies from 20-100 s (DIN 4 cup). UP coatings which cure conventionally can be applied at a rate of 500 g/m and UV-curing systems at a rate of 250 g/m. ... [Pg.61]
