Lead users tend to profit from new innovation, i.e. th feel pressure to solve problems they experience during product use and tiy to accommodate this 1 finding or obtaining solutions. As they are ahead of major trends in the marketplace they are likely to feel the need to solve problems that have not yet been recognized by the majority of users. The main market population will feel the same problems as lead users, but later in time. When the customers in the main market find out about new trends and associated problems, lead users can easily take the perspective of these users, as they are likely to have experienced similar problems before. They will thus empathize better with other users. Thus higher lead usemess will lead to higher cognitive empathy. [Pg.83]
