Around 2004 the first safety culture tools designed for healthcare began to appear. Nonetheless, the US Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare Pohcy and Research developed and published clinical practice guidelines for the management of pressure ulcers (Agency for Healthcare Research, 2016). The guidelines state that electrical stimulation is the only adjunctive therapy with sufficient supporting evidence to warrant recommendation by the panel.
